AWS re: Invent, the annual event of Amazon Web Services (AWS), is being held for its eighth edition, in Las Vegas, USA, from December 2 to 6, 2019 and brings together some 65,000 attendees (30% more than the previous edition). It’s a must-have event in the cloud.

The main event was the keynote address by Andy Jassy, ​​AWS General Manager and Amazon Vice President who in his presentation with two prominent US personalities: David Solomon, CEO of Goldman Sachs Bank, and Hans Verstberg, the boss of telecom operator Verizon who explains for the first how the cloud of AWS helps it to innovate in the very complex world of finance and for the second to announce its strategic partnership with AWS in the 5G to extend the cloud to mobile objects.

Between daily keynotes, the 3,000 sessions offered by clients and partners, the exhibition and the evenings of relaxation, participants are at the mercy of AWS who invited more than 300 exhibitors to present their product and services.

As every year, the AWS re: Invent is the opportunity of flagship announcements with for this edition no less than 31 new services ranging from storage (S3 Access Point) to databases (Cassandra as a Service), through artificial intelligence (ML for code review, Fraud Detector), private and hybrid cloud (Fargate for EKS), voice interface and even 5G, as well as the opening of new areas such as Los Angeles or new types of ultra-powerful instances (AWS Graviton processor, 100Gps).

We have sent some of our technical experts on site to prepare for the future evolutions of our services, at Iguana the questions of observability, traceability and supervision being at the heart of our reflections for so-called standard infrastructures via our metrology tools, so it is imperative that we also have a vision of how we can provide metrology services for all technologies (including Kubernetes K8S) and thus understand the workings of managed services like EKS or Fargate, as well as the different approaches / best practices to deploy the applications in an automated way to integrate them with our own tools.
